Wicky Ned acclaimed as the 2024 Greyhound of the Year

WICKY NED is the 2024 Greyhound of the Year.
Trained by Jimmy Fenwick at Newcastle for owner Neil McGregor, the August 2022 son of Droopys Sydney and Ballycowen Lucy also landed the Standard Distance and Newcomer categories after a brilliant first campaign and was honoured at a gala function at York's Milner Hotel.

He won four Category One titles, the All England Cup and Northern Flat at home base Newcastle plus Sheffield's Gymcrack and Steel City Cup, and also strutted his stuff on Derby final night at Towcester when landing the Puppy Invitation final he was re-routed to after a shock early Derby elimination.
Droopys Clue, Seamus Cahill's 2023 Greyhound of the Year, retained his title as top stayer, while other category winners were Bill Russell's Magical Bluebear, Mark Wallis' Ballymac Taylor, Ricky Holloway's Signet Harper, plus the Patrick Janssens duo of Druids Say Go and Romeo Command, who retained the SIS British Bred Greyhound award.
Additionally, Julie Luckhurst's Nicky The Second is the Graded Greyhound of the Year after the £500 sales purchase won ten of 20 graded races to progress from A9 to A1 at Crayford not to mention two opens.

2024 GBGB non-greyhound awards

GBGB chairman Jeremy Cooper's award went posthumously to long-time GBGB director Bill Glass, who passed away in late January and whose funeral takes place on Friday.
He began his greyhound career as a racing manager and was the long-time operations director for Stadia UK, which runs Swindon.
🏆 Our first #GBGBAwards presentation of the evening is a special one. It goes to a a true greyhound man who really added to the sport through his tireless work and passion.
