Star chairman Davies thumbs up for Pelaw after making first visit

STAR PELAW welcomed Sir Philip Davies, chairman of the Star Sports Group of Companies which purchased the north-east venue last year, to its meeting on Sunday.
Davies said of his first visit to the track: "I've really really enjoyed the evening. There's a great vibe and fantastic atmosphere.
"I've met some amazing people, real greyhound racing enthusiasts. The track looks great and it's just a cracking night too."
He had also been introduced to Star Pelaw's famous culinary feature, adding: "I got stuck into the carvery and I'll need block and tackle to get the out of the building afterwards!"
During his political career, where he served as MP for Shipley from 2005 to 2024, Davies had a spell as chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Betting and Gaming.
