Riband heats set for Tuesday after Towcester calls a halt
THE first round of the Greyhound Racing UK Blue Riband is now set to take place at Towcester on Tuesday, subject to GBGB approval.
Sunday’s meeting at the Northamptonshire track was abandoned after the opening sprint race - won by Mark Wallis’s Pavilion Fire in a relatively slow 16.11sec - despite further work on the running surface afterwards.
A track spokesman said: “After further inspection, it was decided extra preparation work would be needed following the heavy salting over recent days.
“As a consequence the Blue Riband is set to move to Tuesday once confirmed with GBGB.”
If given the go ahead by the GBGB, the six first round heats will comprise the first six races on the card on Tuesday. Kennelling for the heats will be 12.15pm to 1.15pm.
The scheduled Saturday meeting at Towcester was cancelled due to a frozen track.
