Record-breaker Mongys Wild is fifth TV Trophy winner for Wallis

MONGYS WILD, trained by Mark Wallis for the MWD Partnership, produced a sensational track record performance as he ran riot to land the £15,000 final of the Time Greyhound Nutrition TV Trophy over 942m at Towcester.
In doing so, he credited Wallis with a record fifth victory in the marathon showpiece, the handler also taking fourth with favoured Ballymac Taylor who could never strike a blow despite looking in a decent pitch around halfway.
Alright Gordy took a flier and led for the first circuit but Mongys Wild shrugged off a few traffic issues to go off in pursuit, hit the front just embarking on the final circuit and proceeded to draw right away.
Ultimately, he would score by six and a half lengths from Alright Patricia, who just got up for second ahead of her Dave Lewis-trained kennelmate Alright Gordy.
The winning time of 57.41sec represented an improvement of fully half a second on the aforementioned Ballymac Taylor's previous mark.
Sadly, 2024 champion Bubbly Inferno looked to go wrong approaching the third bend and trailed the field thereafter.
Wallis enjoyed the perfect day, winning all five opens in which he was represented with Garfiney Blaze, Newinn Deejay, Rapido Lady and Vhagar all landing supporting one-off contests.
