Playgirl Holloway-bound as she tops successful Star Pelaw sale

TOTAL turnover of almost £65,000 with 39 of 40 lots sold saw the first sale organised by International Greyhound Services at Star Pelaw on Thursday 17th April deemed a great success.
Top lot on the day was Droopys Playgirl, a January 2024 repeat mating to Shelbourne track record breaker Droopys Kathleen. She was sold for £7,100 to join Ricky Holloway’s kennels.
Fastest time on the day for the 435m course was the 26.05sec (+10) recorded by Return Package, who was sold to Savva Roberts for £3,000.
Nathan Corden of International Greyhound Services was in a buoyant mood when reflecting on the company’s first sale at Star Pelaw, saying “From start to finish the day was a huge success.
"Everything went like clockwork allowing us to start trials on time and even finish the day early!
"The Star Pelaw staff were first class and our thanks go to Dave Gray, Kim Sanzone and all the team there.
"There was a very healthy crowd attending and this made for a strong auction with a total turnover of £64,950.”

Corden continued “Speaking to Kim (Sanzone) afterwards, she was delighted that a large percentage of the greyhounds sold today are joining the ranks of the Star Pelaw graded strength. In total we sold 39 of the 40 lots and we will certainly look forward to putting Star Pelaw into the 2026 schedule.”
The host venue offered a novel incentive for local purchasers with a 10 per cent rebate (up to a maximum of £250) of the sales price when a greyhound has completed 5 races at the track.
