Parker proves such a pro in Harlow's BGBF Sprint decider
PRO PARKER brought his trapping boots on the occasion it mattered most to claim the £3,000 final of the BGBF Sprint over 238m at Harlow.
Having won just one in ten at the start of the year, Michelle Brown's May 2022 son of Magical Bale and Pro Penny was scoring for the fifth time in his last eight as he cleared Jobbrruda to lead into the opening turn.
With litter-brother and odds-on favourite Teaboy Brownie playing catch-up after a moderate start, Pro Parker was never threatened after hitting the front and came home almost three lengths to the good of a staying-on Zebedee Cluasa in 15.18sec (+5).
Winning trainer Brown told the Racing Post: "I do think Parker’s probably faster than his brother [Teaboy Brownie], but his brother’s probably more consistent at the start. But he got it right and you’re not going to come from behind him over that trip.
"It was lovely for the owners because Dave Sullivan and the rest of the Pro Racing Club who own him [Graham Holman, Dispesh Bhatt, Adie Ling, Donna Bullock and Barry Sullivan] have put a lot into the sport and they’ve never won anything big, and it was nice to see it with their own home-bred. Dave’s got Parker’s mum at home now on the sofa.”
