O'Donnell dominates in Ireland with Gold Cup and Clonmel wins

A monthly video record of the major SIS UK and Irish races run during 2025 with accompanying reporting.

07/02 - Clonmel: Rural Kennels Open Unraced Stake - The Other Wild
THE OTHER WILD completed an unbeaten run through the competition with a brilliant front-running display to land the €7,000 final of the Rural Kennels Open Unraced Stake over 525 yards at Clonmel.
Trained by Jennifer O'Donnell for the Born Wild Syndicate, the May 2023 son of Ballymac Wild and Whitings Gift flew out to a 2.77sec sectional and was soon clear whereas favourite Faypoint Ranger, bidding to give Graham Holland a sixth straight win in the event, was playing catch up after a flat-footed exit.
Up front, The Other Wild was given a good race by Holland 'second string' Brideside Bill but always looked to have his measure and so it proved.
Going through the third bend split in 16.00sec, he went on to score by a length and a half in 28.49sec with Toolmaker Joseph coming through late for third and Faypoint Ranger fading out of it on the run-in.
22/02 - Shelbourne Park: Tote Gold Cup - Seven Beach
SEVEN BEACH capitalised on the misfortune suffered by odds-on favourite Carrick Aldo as he claimed a first big-race success in the €16,000 final of the Tote Gold Cup over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park.
A dual Derby semi-finalist for the past two years, the Jennifer O'Donnell-trained Seven Beach broke well along with Carrick Aldo although it was perhaps predictably the last-named who just made the bend ahead.
Seven Beach had begun to inch closer to the leader when Carrick Aldo checked around the halfway mark and quickly began to drop away.
Seven Beach was left in control with Hawkfield Blue finishing strongly for second, a length adrift of the Beach Boys Trio-owned winner who clocked 28.52sec.
Victory continued a tremendous start to the campaign for O’Donnell, who had previously landed the Rural Kennels Open Unraced at Clonmel with The Other Wild.
23/02 - Towc: Greyhound Racing UK Northants Sprnt - Bombout Bullet
BOMBOUT BULLET, strongly supported into 6/4 favourite, completed an unbeaten run through the competition with a dominant display in the £3,000 final of the Greyhound Racing UK Northamptonshire Sprint over 270m at Towcester.
Belinda Green's charge broke well on the inside and that was basically race over as he comfortably held his pitch to the turn then went clear from that point.
At the line, he had pulled more than three lengths ahead of Dashing Dude in posting 15.63sec to claim the Category Two title with Letitwithme a length and a half away in third as she landed bronze in the event for the second year running.
