PAUL HENNESSY was once again the first Irish trainer to show his hand ahead of Towcester's big-race summer when sending a team of four for trials before racing on Wednesday.

Lennies Desire was both first and fastest of the quartet to go round, posting 28.99sec in a solo over the 500m course. He won an A1 stake final by seven lengths at Shelbourne's Winter Racing Festival in December.

Hennessy's other trials were Hello Diego (29.07sec), Boylesports Blue (29.09sec) and Barefoot On Fire (29.28sec).

Lennies Desire and Hello Diego are both eligible for the KAB Maiden Derby starting over the course and distance on Sunday 6th April, won by Hennessy last year with Jaytee Etienne and the traditional curtain-raiser to the Star Sports/TRC English Derby which begins some five weeks later.
