HILLSIDE LILY, sent off a well-supported 9/4 favourite on the night having been 20/1 with the sponsor ante-post pre-event, took early command to land the £1,000 final of the Bet Aways And Sports Events With Star Sports On-Course Vase over 435m at Star Pelaw.

Trained by Martin Stout for son Joe, Hillside Lily had made all in her heat the previous weekend and, when she improved her 5.50sec sectional to 5.43sec in the decider, she set a pace her rivals could not match.

Noharminthat turned second but then tangled with Catunda Maura early in the back straight and it was Angel Rose who woul chase the winner home without ever threatening to get to her.

At the line, Hillside Lily - who is the only racing greyhound the father-and-son Stout team currently have along with three pups - was more than three lengths to the good in clocking 25.60sec (normal).
