Greyhound Homing UK sets up an online 'Adoption Platform'

GREYHOUND Homing UK has launched what it claims is a ground-breaking innovation to find greyhounds their forever homes.

The Adoption Platform on Greyhound Homing UK’s website has been described as a “Rightmove for greyhounds” and brings together homing centres around the country allowing them to upload details of greyhounds that are ready for adoption so they can reach a wider audience.

Gail May, strategy & partnerships manager for Greyhound Homing UK said: “It has been a personal ambition of mine to set this up and, with the technical and financial backing of the team, it has become a reality!

“I’ve had so much help from homing centres who have critiqued what we have done every step of the way. We now have 22 independent homing organisations working with us so far, as well as the Greyhound Trust, so we have coverage of the whole country.”

An integral part of the Mike Davis-led Greyhound Racing UK, a not-for-profit marketing and promotion company, Greyhound Homing UK aims to widen the reach for homing centres, so more people know what incredible pets greyhounds make.

The Adoption Platform now provides a one-stop shop for those looking for a greyhound - potential adopters can filter their search by location and include preferences such as ability to live with children, the elderly or other pets.

They are then connected to the homing centre which has their hound of choice, allowing the centres to do what they do best which is to ensure they match the potential adopters to their perfect companion.

The Greyhound Homing UK website is a mine of information for potential adopters as well as articles and blogs about pet greyhounds.

“Everyone needs to follow the homing journey of our brand mascot, Graham in his own blog! added May. [Click image below]

“We hope to level the playing field and help to forge partnerships where there are none at present, so that all greyhounds, irrespective of which track or trainer they have come from, have the same chance of quickly finding their forever home.

“We are determined to make a difference but to do so we need everyone in the sport, as well as those who specifically deal with homing, to work together.”
