GBGB awards to be held in York on Thursday 6th March 2025
DETAILS of the annual GBGB awards gala have been announced with York hosting the occasion for the first time, while there is also a move away from the traditional Sunday slot to a Thursday.
The Milner (formerly The Principal) in York is the venue on Thursday 6th March when the year’s most spectacular racing performances will be celebrated with the GBGB bringing the awards to the heart of the historic city continuing the theme in recent years of moving the event around the country.
Within easy reach of the North, Midlands and Scotland, York is also less than two hours by train from London.
As well as celebrating a shortlist of exceptional racers in each category, the awards will highlight people within the sport who have seen great success with their canine athletes this year, including kennelhand, trainer and owner of the year.
Mark Moisley, GBGB commercial director, said: “The GBGB awards ceremony is always an occasion to revisit, celebrate and reflect on the fantastic moments we have seen from the past year – whether that is the incredible feats of our canine athletes, the teams of owners and trainers that enable them to thrive or all the wonderful supporters that make up our sport.
“Each year, we listen to the feedback from our guests and aim to make the event as accessible as possible for all. A huge part of this has been taking the awards across the country in recent years – something that we are excited to continue with a spotlight on the north this year.
"Equally, we know how important it is to take into account racing schedules and, whilst there will never be a perfect solution, we are looking forward to trialling a Thursday night event this year.
