Command is right drawn white in hot Riband first round heat

ROMEO COMMAND loves a middle draw and that could give Patrick Janssens' star the edge in a red-hot heat four of the Greyhound Racing UK Blue Riband over 500m at Towcester (3.49).

The Eclipse champion has to contend with fellow recent Category One winners Keefill Rocky and Bombay Birch not to mention track record holding kennelmate Barntick Bear but it could be rapid improver Kilmore Dancer, winner of six of his last eight, who gives him most to think about.

However, four of Romeo Command's best five Towcester sectionals have come when wearing the white jacket and another rapid exit can allow his all-round strength and ability to win the day.

Janssens should double up in heat five at 4.26 where his Droopys Plunge holds strong claims.

Mark Wallis' brilliant Olympic champion Proper Heiress has his first run since in heat one at 2.16 and it will be a surprise if lack of fitness finds him out with a recent 15.58sec sprint trial here pretty special.

Wallis has claims with Gun Slinger in heat two at 2.33 but Heather Dimmock's Olympic runner-up Droopys Extragud is just preferred,Tom Heilbron's Untold Euro looks the answer in heat three at 3.11 and Maxine Locke's Droopys Prefect can take a depleted finale at 4.44.

Other non-maiden open fancies are Wallis' Pavilion Team (1.57) and Rapido Lady (4.07), Vicki Lea's Da Guvnor (2.52), and Locke's Racenight Mikey (5.03).

There is also early morning open action at Valley with Kate Harrison's Different Speed looking to add to his frankly ridiculous haul of 22 wins in his previous 23 visits when he returns for the first time since September for the 12.21 over 260m.

Star Pelaw's evening card features five opens with Mark Bulmer's Emilys Superstar fancied to make a winning six-bend debut in the 8.16 over 590m.

There are also Sunday SIS meetings at Doncaster, Mullingar, Clonmel and Lifford.
