HELLO ROSE, trained by Graham Holland for Liam Mannix, was outsider of five at 5-1 but proved best in a dramatic €7,500 final of the Dave Collins Memorial Munster Oaks at Kilcohan Park, Waterford.

Winning for the first time in the event when it mattered most, it had looked as though she was booked for second at best when Legit News raced clear into the back straight only for the leader to first ease, then inexplicably check, approaching and rounding the third bend.

Needing no second invitation, Hello Rose swept past and went on to hold the strong finish of odds-on Deelish Nora by a length in 29.08sec.

13/09 - Kilkenny: JAG Building Services A1 Derby - Julies Gem

JULIES GEM was made to work harder in the final than at any previous stage of the event but came out on top in the €9,000 JAG Building Services & KGOBA A1 Derby at Kilkenny.

Murt Leahy's bitch had won her three preliminaries by an aggregate of 15 lengths, going from the front on each occasion, but was bumped early in the decider and found herself playing catch-up as Glitzy Magic took the field along.

It was approaching the third bend where Julies Gem, owned by the Gem Spring Syndicate, made her move as she took the gap on the rails offered by Glitzy Magic.

Ahead at three-quarters, it still was not quite over with Julies Gem having to dig in to repel the rally of Glitzy Magic by half a length in 28.94sec.

14/09 - Limerick: Roma Casino Irish Cambridgeshire - Tuono Charlie

TUONO CHARLIE marched on and on and on as he continued his total domination of the staying scene with victories 14, 15 and 16 in his winning sequence to add yet another title to his collection in the shape of the Roma Casino Irish Cambridgeshire over 750 yards at Limerick.

The Sharon Hunt-trained, Paul Dyer-owned superstar set a new track record with a 40.73sec opening round victory, followed up by clocking 40.79sec in the semis and 40.97sec in the €4,500 final.

His winning distances in the three races totalled 26 lengths with victory in the decider coming in trademark all-the-way fashion by six and a half lengths from Droopys Comrade who chased him home in all three rounds.

15/09 - Towcester: bet365 Empress Stakes - Avongate Venus

AVONGATE VENUS confirmed her position as the leading UK bitch in training by completing an unbeaten run through the bet365 Empress Stakes over 500m at Towcester.

Trained by Phil Milner for Sean O'Connor, Avongate Venus was sent off 8-11 favourite to stretch her winning sequence to nine and, having been momentarily led out of traps by market rival New Destiny, quickly paced up on the outside to assert.

With New Destiny checking middle at the opening turn and losing a couple of places, it was Droopys Eunice who turned behind Avongate Venus but she could make no real impression despite giving it her all until markedly losing momentum on the run-in.

Ultimately, Avongate Venus went on to score by almost two lengths from a staying-on Iceman's Girl in an excellent 28.66sec with Droopys Eunice half a length away in third the same distance ahead of a rallying New Destiny.

28/09 - Doncaster: Yorkshire Derby - Greenwell Coe

GREENWELL COE, trained by Tom Heilbron for Kenny Glen, completed an unbeaten run through the competition with a brilliant performance to land the £8,000 Yorkshire Derby final over 483m at Doncaster.

Uneasy in the market from 9-4 out to 3-1 as strong support took Vixons Filofax in the opposite direction, Greenwell Coe immediately set about putting any doubts to bed as he quickly asserted.

Comfortably clearing the first bend ahead, he was pursued by wide-running Bellmore Ozzy into the back straight albeit at a four lengths margin and that was as close as anything got.

Powering away from the third turn, Greenwell Coe came home more than six lengths ahead of a staying on Ballymac Lineout in a Newcastle one-two with Bellmore Ozzy half a length away in third and just holding favourite Vixons Filofax for that position.

The winning time was a superb 28.96sec, just nine spots outside King Eden's 2017 track record and the third fastest ever over the trip.

28/09 - Doncaster: BGBF British Bred St Leger - Fabulous Dyna

FABULOUS DYNA retained her BGBF British Bred St Leger title when outstaying her rivals in the £3,000 decider over 661m at Doncaster.

She collared early leader Acomb Jasper at the fifth bend and pulled away to beat Fabulous Tempo by almost four lengths in 41.49sec.

It was a third successive victory in the event for trainer Laurence Tuffin and owner Dave Firmager whose winning run started with Romeo Riot in 2022.

28/09 - Shelbourne: Paddy Merriman Memorial - Stonepark Hoffa

STONEPARK HOFFA, who had suffered just one defeat in five career starts coming into the event, added another four victories to his tally as he went unbeaten through the €10,000 Paddy Merriman Memorial over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park.

It was relatively serene progress to the final for the Michael O'Donovan-trained, Michael O’Dwyer-owned speedster but the decider was a different story altogether.

Crowded on leaving traps, he nevertheless still showed exceptional early pace to make the bend but was challenged by fast-starting Coolavanny Brave.

Stonepark Hoffa opened up along the back and was a length or more clear by the third bend but Coolavanny Brave rallied strongly and the line came just in time for the O'Donovan charge as he held on by a short-head in 28.59sec.

28/09 - Shelbourne: Yvonne Barry 600 - Ballinabola Jim

/0:47

BALLINABOLA JIM had to be brave at the opening bend but ultimately proved a decisive winner as he completed an unbeaten run through the Yvonne Barry Open 600 with victory in the €10,000 final at Shelbourne.

Magical Sapphire broke fast to lead but Ballinabola Jim, trained by Brendan Murphy for the Murphy Ballinaboola Syndicate, moved up along the back straight.

The pacesetter did not go down without a battle but Ballinabola Jim got past befoe the final bend and went to beat Glenlara Blue by two and a half lenghts in 32.40sec.
