BetGoodwin to back series of valuable Oxford maiden events
BET GOODWIN is backing a series of end-of-year maiden competitions at Oxford to cover sprint, standard and staying distances.
Known as the BetGoodwin Series, each competition will carry a winner's prize of £3,000 and be staged over successive Saturdays.
BetGoodwin previously backed the Pall Mall at the track in July, won by Richie Taberner's Aero Sacundai.
Julian Head, MD of BetGoodwin, said: "We are really pleased to be sponsoring this series. Oxford is a fantastic track and we're sure it will attract plenty of entries from near and afar.
"BetGoodwin love greyhound racing and we're always pleased to help promote this wonderful sport of ours."
The BetGoodwin Maiden Sprint Cup over 253m, restricted to greyhounds with no open wins, is first up with heats on November 9th, semis on November 16th and the final on November 23rd.
Final night of the sprint also sees the heats of a 450m maiden - the BetGoodwin Series Maiden Cup - for greyhounds who have not won an open over four bends or further, the final of which is on December 7th.
Finally, the BetGoodwin Series Maiden Stayers Cup over 650m is run on December 14th, 21st and 28th restricted to greyhounds who have not won an open over six bends or further.
It has also been announced that win prize money for non-maiden opens at both Oxford and Towcester is rising to £300 from November. Run money is £60 with trainers also receiving £15.
